Calling all Central New Yorkers! You're Invited to a Public Meeting October 18th at MOST
By participating in the public meeting and listening session on October 18th, you can help shape the direction of millions of dollars in investments that will bring about meaningful and lasting changes to Central New York.
The Micron Community Engagement Committee (CEC) is excited to announce a public meeting and interactive workshop scheduled from 4:30 to 7:30 PM on October 18th. Participants are welcome to come at any time. The event will be held at the Museum of Science and Technology located at 500 S Franklin St, Syracuse. This event is an integral part of the CEC's mission to engage with the community, identify future investment priorities, and foster collaboration for the benefit of Central New York.
The CEC was formed as a result of the historic agreement between Micron, Governor Kathy Hochul, and Empire State Development and is aimed at identifying and addressing the most pressing needs of Central New York communities. The shared vision for this community-driven initiative reflects a commitment to nurturing lasting positive changes in Central New York.
The formation of the Micron Community Engagement Committee is a pivotal component of the Community Investment Framework agreement reached between New York State and Micron in October 2022. The committee's primary goal is to create a strategic framework for directing investments in various critical areas, including but not limited to education, housing, workforce development, childcare, transportation, infrastructure, and more.
One of the key outcomes of the CEC's efforts will be the establishment of the Community Priorities Document, which will serve as a guiding strategy to ensure that the greater Central New York region benefits from the Community Investment Fund, created as part of the agreement between Micron and the State of New York.
The committee comprises local stakeholders who are deeply invested in Central New York's growth and prosperity. It is designed to facilitate meaningful, ground-up participation and discussions concerning Micron's implementation and investments in the region.
